Choosing pressure gauge accessories

This collection contains adaptors, isolation valves, panel clamps, front and back mounting flanges, PTFE washers, rubber covers and pressure snubbers. It does not currently include syphons, diaphragm seals, manifolds or filling fluids.

Select by function, thread form, size, material, pressure rating, temperature and media compatibility. BSP, BSPT and NPT threads are not interchangeable merely because the nominal size is similar.

Snubbers can reduce pulsation reaching a gauge, while covers provide limited protection against knocks. Isolation valves support suitable isolation arrangements but do not alone make live maintenance safe.

Pressure Gauge Installation Accessories

The current collection contains adaptors, isolation valves, panel clamps, front and back mounting flanges, PTFE washers, rubber protective covers and pressure snubbers.

Adaptors change connection size or thread arrangement. Confirm both ends, thread form, material and pressure rating before installation.

Isolation valves allow a gauge connection to be isolated where the system design and safe working procedure permit. They do not by themselves guarantee that maintenance can be completed safely while the process remains live.

Snubbers restrict rapid pressure changes and can reduce pulsation reaching the gauge. Rubber covers provide limited protection from knocks; clamps and flanges support compatible mounting arrangements.

How to Choose Gauge Accessories

Identify the required function, then check thread, size, pressure, temperature, material, medium and installation arrangement.

Connection Type

Match BSP, BSPT or NPT threads exactly. Do not force unlike thread forms together, even if their nominal sizes appear similar.

Material Construction

Choose materials that are compatible with the process medium and environment. Stainless steel is not universally compatible with every chemical.

Pressure and Temperature Conditions

Use a suitably rated snubber for pulsation. The current collection does not include gauge syphons, so obtain suitable steam-temperature protection separately.

Installation Requirements

Confirm whether an adaptor, isolation valve, panel clamp, front flange, back flange, washer or cover fits the specific gauge and installation.

What does a pressure gauge snubber do?

A snubber restricts rapid pressure changes and can reduce pulsation reaching the gauge. It must be correctly selected for the medium, pressure and required response.

Can an isolation valve make live maintenance safe?

Not by itself. Safe isolation depends on the system design, valve arrangement, pressure release and an appropriate working procedure.

Can BSP and NPT fittings be connected together?

They are different thread forms and should not be treated as interchangeable. Use a correctly specified adaptor where conversion is required.
