Calibration Services

GNW Instrumentation provides calibration services for a wide range of industrial, laboratory and professional measuring equipment. From our calibration workshop in Southport, Merseyside, and through our nationwide on-site service, we help businesses check that their instruments remain suitable for the measurements they are used to make.

Our capabilities cover pressure, weighing, temperature, electrical, dimensional, torque, force, flow and other forms of test and measurement equipment. Whether you need a single instrument calibrated or want to arrange work for equipment across an entire site, our team will discuss the application, the equipment involved and the certification you require before providing a quotation.

Workshop and on-site calibration services

Equipment that can be transported safely may be sent to our Southport workshop for calibration. This is often the most practical option for individual instruments, smaller batches and equipment that requires controlled workshop facilities.

Where instruments are fixed in place, difficult to transport or needed for day-to-day production, we can arrange on-site calibration at premises across the UK. An on-site visit can also be more efficient when a business has a large number of instruments due at the same time, helping to reduce transport, equipment downtime and disruption.

Pressure and vacuum calibration

GNW has extensive experience in the calibration of analogue and digital pressure instruments. Our pressure calibration service covers pressure gauges, vacuum gauges, digital pressure gauges, pressure transmitters and other pressure measuring equipment used in production, maintenance, testing and process applications.

Pressure and vacuum equipment can be calibrated in our workshop, with selected work also available on site. If you are unsure whether we can accommodate a particular pressure range, connection or instrument type, send us the equipment details and we will confirm the available service.

Scale, balance, test weight and load cell calibration

We calibrate weighing equipment used in laboratories, production areas, warehouses, healthcare settings and other professional environments. This includes laboratory balances, bench scales, platform scales, medical scales and industrial weighing systems from a wide range of manufacturers.

Our weighing capabilities also include test weights and load cells. Load cells can be calibrated in tension or compression where appropriate. Workshop and on-site options are available, depending on the equipment, capacity, installation and access requirements.

Temperature and humidity calibration

Temperature measurements affect product quality, process control, storage conditions and safety across many industries. GNW calibrates a range of temperature instruments, including thermometers, temperature probes, sensors, indicators and related measuring equipment.

We also provide calibration for humidity and moisture measuring instruments. To help us confirm the correct procedure, include the required temperature or humidity points, instrument range and any probes or accessories when requesting a quotation.

Electrical test equipment calibration

Electrical test instruments are relied upon for measurement, inspection, maintenance and safety testing. Our electrical calibration service covers a broad range of equipment, including multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, loop testers, RCD testers and other electrical test instruments.

Please provide the manufacturer, model and functions requiring calibration when making an enquiry. This allows us to check the instrument against our current capabilities and quote for the work accurately.

Dimensional and toolroom calibration

Our dimensional calibration service covers commonly used measuring tools such as vernier and digital callipers, micrometers, dial indicators and other workshop measuring equipment. We also handle specialist tooling, including selected plug gauges, ring gauges and related dimensional standards.

Regular calibration provides a documented check of the equipment used to inspect components, verify dimensions and make acceptance decisions. Both individual tools and larger toolroom batches can be accommodated.

Torque, force and crimp tool calibration

GNW calibrates mechanical and digital torque instruments, force gauges, load measuring equipment and crimp tools. These instruments are often used where an incorrect setting or reading can affect assembly quality, product consistency or inspection results.

Available procedures depend on the instrument type, range and direction of measurement. Supplying these details at the quotation stage helps us identify the correct calibration method and any limitations before the equipment is sent to us.

Flow and analytical instrument calibration

Our wider calibration capabilities include flow meters and rotameters for suitable air, water and other media applications. We can also assess calibration requirements for pH and conductivity meters, gas detectors and monitors, light meters, flue gas analysers and other specialist measuring instruments.

This equipment can vary considerably by design and application, so we recommend sending the make, model, measuring range and intended use for review. We will confirm whether the work can be completed in our workshop or on site.

Calibration certificates and UKAS calibration

A calibration certificate is supplied for completed calibration work, providing a record for your equipment management and quality procedures. GNW operates a quality management system certified to ISO 9001:2015.

UKAS calibration can also be arranged where it is specifically required. Please state this when requesting a quotation, as UKAS calibration is a separate service and is not automatically included with standard calibration.

What happens if an instrument needs attention?

Calibration may identify an instrument that is outside the required tolerance or not operating correctly. As GNW also provides instrument repair and refurbishment services, we can assess many faults and advise whether adjustment or repair is practical. Where additional work is needed, we will discuss the findings and provide a quotation before proceeding.
