Sauter JCT Coating Thickness Gauge

Sauter JCT Coating Thickness Gauge

The Sauter JCT 100 is a compact coating thickness gauge for non-destructive measurement on ferrous and non-ferrous metal substrates. It combines magnetic-induction and eddy-current measuring principles, automatically recognising the suitable method for the substrate.

The instrument measures coatings up to 2,000 µm with 0.1 µm readability and a stated tolerance of 2% of the measured value. Memory for 55 groups of 60 readings, graphical evaluation and the rotating display support organised inspection in automotive refinishing, paint and plating processes, incoming inspection and production quality control.

Choose the JCT where one handheld instrument is required for common coating-on-metal applications. As with any coating gauge, the substrate, surface curvature, roughness and adjustment procedure can affect results; use the supplied reference standards and follow the manufacturer’s measuring procedure.

Applications

Automotive Coating Checks

Check paint depth on steel or aluminium vehicle panels before or after refinishing.

Electroplating Inspection

Monitor plated layers during electroplating and metal-finishing work.

Shipbuilding and Aviation

Compare protective coating thickness across a fabricated metal structure.

Laboratory Quality Control

Record non-destructive coating measurements during incoming or final inspection.

Features

Dual Measuring Methods

The gauge switches automatically between magnetic induction and eddy current according to the metal beneath the coating.

Automatic Base Detection

Automatic substrate recognition reduces setup when moving between steel and non-ferrous parts.

Non-Destructive Testing

Readings are taken without cutting through or removing the coating.

Pass/Fail Display

The three-colour display gives a quick indication against the limits entered by the operator.
